Well, it finally happened... Your Maytag Neptune front loader sounds like a jetliner taking off when it enters the high speed spin cycle.

You call the Maytag service person and they quote you $450 to replace the outer tub and a few hours of labor to do the large outer tub swap.

WOW! $900 to repair the bearings? You ask the service person, "Why can't you just replace the bearings?"

They respond, "We can't, Maytag doesn't offer the replacement bearings as they come pre-installed in the outer tub. "

You ask, "Who was the guiness who thought of that repair strategy?"

Look, any machine that has moving parts via bearings will need attention sooner or later. The case is worse with a washing machine where you have water and bearings involved. There is a Maytag 12002022 seal kit that keeps the water and bearings isolated but the seal will eventually wear out and start to leak. When the water starts to leak it can enter the bearings and it won't take long for the lubrication in the bearings to fail and then the bearings are done. You will notice this first in the spin cycle because the bearing will get really loud.

Here is a picture of a worn bearing:

Now that you have had the bad news... It's time for some good news. There is a bearing & seal kit I developed to help Maytag Neptune owners replace the bearings and seal themselves and save a lot of money. There is also an ebook that is included with the kit to help you replace the bearings.

When my bearing seized, it broke 2 of the 3 arms off of the drum support bracket. lowest cost online is $110. Do you happen to have any salvaged useable support. I'm not sure if this 9 yr old achine is worth more than $200 repair. Thanks.

instructions are vague. I need a picture of how the seals go in due to them not being the exact same as what came out?

Tried to replace my bearings and did not realize there was a spring retainer clip holding the rear bearing in place. The instructions do not mention this clip. When the bearing came out it broke off the pop metal holding the spring retainer clip and now the outer tub assembly is useless.

Actually, you don't need to replace the retainer clip. I am told the newer Neptunes don't have the retainer clip so you might be able to still use your outer tub. I would try it without the retainer clip as long as you can get the bearings replaced...

It took about two hours in the garage with sledgehammers and pnematic chisels and total disreguard for the possability of damaging the outertub to remove the old bearings and expose the spindal cylinder. I then ordered the bearings and seal kit. Next weekend it took about another 2 hours to reassemble everything. You will need a few tools and the directions require some interpretations but it is possable. Mine runs like new now.

In the tub back there is a hole - it faces up and it slants back into the tub like it goes into the shaft and bearings - Did this fix but i was wondering if I am supposed to lubricat through that hole. I was thinking white grease is what is supposed to be in there but ?

This new instal in my MAH3000AWW is working - but it still seems loud for some reason.

can anyone help me out?
